To celebrate the launch of the new MASK ongoing series, Skybound released a series of blind bags with variant covers for the first issue. As a surprise to fans, two special comics were released in these bags. They were MASK Origins, MASK #2, and Rom Special #1.
In Case You Missed It
For obvious reasons, the early edition of MASK is not getting a “new” release, but Origins and ROM Special #1 are. These issue are highly sought after, with the ROM release being more coveted because it is the characters first appearance in the Energon Universe.
Relive Some Of Energon’s Greatest Hits
MASK Origins is a compilation or pages from previous first appearances of Matt Tracker and Miles Mayhem, the main protagonist and antagonist of the series. If you’ve been following the Energon universe for a while, you most likely have read these pages already. I am thinking the pages being released in this format is for the eventual MASK trade or deluxe edition.
Return of the Spaceknight
The release that is most exciting is ROM Special #1. The spaceknight will be appearing in Void Rivals, but this issue may show how he eventually crosses paths with Darak and Solila. This issue reunites Kirkman with original Void Rivals artist, Lorenzo de Felici.
