What a stream! There were so many great reveals that I’m probably going to break my promise to myself not to preorder anything. Let’s take a look at the promo images Hasbro sent out today.
Let’s just start with the star of the stream, Danny Ketch, the Ghost Rider with motorcycle!
When I think of Ghost Rider, Danny Ketch is the version that usually comes to mind first. I remember reading Ghost Rider(1991) #19 and seeing Ghost Rider ride up the Brooklyn Bridge, hanging a guy by his feet. Not sure how I came by that issue. I know my parents didn’t buy it.
Next on my list of, “I need that”, is Otto Octavious, the Superior Spider-Man.
When the series featuring this character was being published, I actively disliked it. Not because it wasn’t well written(it was), but because I don’t enjoy reading stories where the hero dies and then they try to make us root for the villain. Sometimes, those stories are quite enjoyable, particularly when you don’t realize you are. But when you know, it’s grating.
I really enjoyed Planet Hulk. One of the only lasting effects from that storyline is existence of Skaar, the son of Hulk.
None of his appearances since coming to Earth haven’t been all that interesting. I do hope they find a way to include an alternate head with the fingers on the head. That was a crazy design.
Luke Cage is a major whole in my collection. Like, you can’t have a legit New Avengers set without him.
Luke Cage is an essential character on his own, but when you pair him with his buddy Danny, they are the iconic duo, Heroes for Hire.
As problematic as Joss Whedon may be, his run on Astonishing X-men is iconic. Issue 1 to the Giant-Sized finale was an amazing read that still holds up well today.
I picked up the recent Astonishing Cyclops, but I missed Emma. I’m going to have to circle back and get that figure, because Hasbro is releasing an updated Astonishing Wolverine.
I really hope the fact that we have received Cyclops, Emma and soon Wolverine, means we will get the rest of that team, especially Armor.
I think the older version that in the 3-pack with Radioactive Man and Ultimate Cap still holds up well so I’ll probably pass on this, but it still looks good.
All in all, this was a great bunch of reveals. Most will be up for preorder on the 16th, but look for Ghost Rider to go up for preorder later this mo th.
