Throughout the month of June, Hasbro will be doing livestreams and doing reveals of upcoming products in the G.I. Joe Classified Series line. This is cool and all, but given the way distribution has been handled at retail, I am cautious about getting excited about what they are revealing. Maybe things will be different. We can only hope. Let’s take a look at what Hasbro has revealed.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this the fourth Roadblock offering? We have yet to get a proper Storm Shadow figure, and we are on our fourth Roadblock. I’m sure the resources could have been put to better use. Still, as a classic throwback, it’s a nice figure. I believe the head sculpt may be new so there’s that at least.
This figure is exclusive to Amazon. It’s up for preorder now.
Snake Eyes gets another deluxe release, this time with his wolf, Timber.
Timber looks to have some articulation in the legs and possibly his head. Doesn’t appear to have jaw articulation, but if I get this i don’t imagine I’d take it out the packaging.
This Snake Eyes is different from the previous two versions, but I’m not seeing much to warrant the $39.99 asking price. Hope they aren’t charging an additional 20 bucks for an articulated wolf.
Next up are the Target Exclusive Cobra Island figures.
Now, to be fair, Cobra Island exclusives are obtainable. They just require a lot of patience and a lot of luck. They usually sell out shortly after stores open or minutes after they are put up for sale online. I tried to get a Viper this morning on HasbroPulse only to get the dreaded sold out sign. I have been able to get a few of the other unique characters. Just not any of the troop builders.
This figure has already made it’s way into (some) collectors hands. There is a rumor more will be arriving next week to stores, so if you have yet to pick him up there is still hope.
At first glance I thought this was another troop builder. Luckily it is a unique character. Unfortunately I forsee many ACBA folks buying multiples to use as generic troops much like the Marvel Legends Scourge figure.
Nonetheless, this is a cool figure. I hope I can snag one.
Last up is the next figure with vehicle set, Breaker with RAM Cycle. I’m getting this. I mean the figure itself is kind CV of generic looking, and I don’t remember him from the cartoon, but it doesn’t matter. It’s another vehicle in the six inch scale. Gotta have it.
The only of these that is up for preorder now is the Roadblock figure. The rest have release dates of July 1 and August 1, so expect preorder info arrive soon.
