If you have been collecting Legends for a while, you’ve probably noticed that most waves are pretty light on supervillains. Sure, you may 1 or two in a wave, and most often BAF’s are villains, but we’ve never received a villain heavy wave. Until now.
Marvel Legends Villains 6-Inch Action Figures Wave 1 Case
This wave has some figures I’ve always wanted and a few I didn’t know I did. I mean, I hoped we would get a Xenmu figure at some point, but I thought it would be in an Immortal Hulk wave.
They are getting more mileage out of this Sasquatch mold than I thought they would.
I have Red Skull on my shelf right now. I don’t recall which wave it came in, but it had a Cosmic cube and that weird gun you couldn’t holster on him. It used that Nick Fury/Punisher mold with the coat. This is a more classic rendition. I like it.
This version of Doom is not to be confused with the old Future Foundation Doom which alsu sported a white motif. This is God Emperor Doom from the Secret Wars event a few years back. I like that that they included the Thanos skull and spine accessory. If you haven’t read it this might be spoilery, But Thanos thought he could go toe-to-toe with Doom and got his skull and spine ripped out.
This is probably my favorite of today’s reveals. I have never really given much thought to getting a Dormammu figure or even completing the BAF from the Dr. Strange movie wave. This classic look is really good and looks to be a new sculpt. Nice.
This Hood figure could have been a lot better. It seems to be the Stan Lee figure with a Parker Robbins head. They didn’t even include his boots that he uses to levitate. This is probably meant to be first appearance Hood from his self titled debut comic, but it’s kind of underwhelming. The boots would have given it a little something extra to make it pop. As it is, this might be the peg warmer of the wave.
I’m not sure about Arcade. It’s definitely a character missing from the Legends line, but i don’t think anybody was asking for him. He is one of the few characters to have never been released before by Toybiz or Hasbro. It’s cool to have him in the line. There might be some cool ACBA setups featuring him on Instagram. He makes death traps, so expect toy photogs to get creative with this guy.
This is a figure i have been wanting for a while. I only bought one A.I.M. two-pack when it was available and now i am wishing i bought one more. This figure just looks great.
I’ve seen some cool custom Deathstrike figures on Instagram, but nothing beats an official release in my opinion. I feel they could have included an alternate set of hands with extended claw/nails. Still, I really want this figure. they didn’t need to put the torso in here. They should have switched the Xenmu pieces between her and The Hood or Arcade.
Overall, this is a solid wave. There a couple of possible pegwarmers, but most collectors are going to snatch this wave up regardless. It is now up for preorder on Entertainment Earth and other online retailers.
