I love Masterpiece Transformers. Long before I fell in love with Marvel Comics and their characters, I was an 80’s baby watching Transformers, Thundercats, Masters of the Universe and all the other great cartoons of the time.
Transformers though has always been my favorite. It has consistently gotten better over the years to the point where we are getting versions of the figures that look lifted right out of an episode. That’s the idea behind the new Bumblebee and Bluestreak figures.
While Bumblebee is a new mold, Bluestreak is really just another color variation with a new head and accessories. As pleased as I am with the versions I currently have, these new figures do offer an aesthetic that makes me want to add them to my collection.
Bumblebee has a much more toon accurate bot mode and vehicle mode this time around. It really looks great until you look at the feet. I feel like we will be getting a lot of “What are those?!” memes once it releases.
Bluestreak is the same as the original release but with a new head and extra face plates as well as effects accessories for his gun and shoulder cannons. The updates are minor, but they really set it apart from previous rerelease, making it worth consideration of a new purchase.
Bluestreak is up for preorder now on Entertainment Earth for 79.99. TFW2005 reports that Bumblebee will retail for 159.99 when it releases in Canada later this year. Hopefully it will be less here in America, but seeing as how the Optimus Prime 3.0 is pretty consistent across the board at all foreign and domestic retailers, expect it to sell for around that price.
Update* Bumblebee is now up for preorder on Entertainment Earth as well for $119.99.
