Since his first appearance in X-men(1991) #4, Omega Red has been one of the coolest looking X-men villains around. He was created by writer Jim Byrne and legendary artist Jim Lee. I’ve always liked this design and his powers are pretty cool.
This new Deadpool Series of figures overall is good, but I really only had my eye on two of the non-Deadpool figures, Bishop and Omega Red. Luckily I was able to grab them both at the same time from a Gamestop that just put out a full case.
This is a fun figure to pose. Normally a character this bulky would have poor articulation, but Omega Red has really good articulation. He even has butterfly joints in the shoulders.
He comes with two sets of coils, one short set, one long set. Neither has any bendy wire in them, but I don’t actually mind. I tend to try to keep the accessories in the same condition they were packaged, so the standard configuration they are molded is fine. Also, all four pieces are unique so it kind of eliminates the need to change to pose.
They have been at it for a while, but I just realized that we are getting versions of characters from Jim Lee’s time on X-men. We’ve already received Cyclops, Rogue, Psylocke, Sabretooth, and Gambit and a new Archangel are on the way. Hopefully we will get some other characters from that run like Maverick or Kwannon. We also need Beast and a new Jim Lee Jean Grey.
This figure and the rest of the wave are hitting shelves now, but if they are not at your local Walmart or Target, head to Entertainment Earth to get yours now.Â
