2017 was a great year for collectors! It seemed like every company really put forth an effort to give collectors their money’s worth. Here are my favorite figures in no particular order.
Marvel Legends Darkhawk
Darkhawk was one of my favorite characters growing up. I remember first seeing him in an issue of Spider-Man and instantly fell in love with his design. This figure had a classic look with his more modern wings. This figure is always prominently displayed on my nightstand.
Transformers Titans Return Trypticon
As a kid I don’t recall getting any Transformers. I had plenty of He-man, Thundercats and TMNT, but no Transformers. My neighbor across the street did and I remember him bringing this one over to play with. It was a real treat to get one of my own.
DC Icons Forever Evil Black Adam
Teth-adam is one of my all time favorite DC characters. For some reason he reminds me of Vegeta. This was my first Icons purchase and really got me interested in the line.
Marvel Select The Destroyer
Speaking of first, The Destroyer was my first Select figure ever. I had always thought they were nice figures, but not articulated enough for my liking. The Destroyer had an appropriate amount of articulation for a suit of armor. What was truly awesome was how some of it was hidden in the design.
Marvel Select Gamora
This was an amazing figure that I somehow never got around to posting last year. Gamora was a Disney Store Exclusive along with the rest of the comic version of the Guardians. The articulation on her is amazing and she had a ton of accessories. I do wish, however, that she would have been packaged with a more dynamic face sculpt.
Transformers Titans Return Misfire
This is probably my favorite deluxe from the Titans Return line. The color scheme combined with the vehicle mode combined for a truly unique looking Decepticon I am happy to have in my collection.
Transformers Masterpiece MP-34 Cheetor
Cheetor was a figure that really surprised me last year. I always expect a high level of screen accuracy when it comes to Masterpiece figures, but this raised my expectations when it comes to articulation in a Transformers Masterpiece figure. It is just a great figure.
Transformers Masterpiece MP-39 Sunstreaker
Sunstreaker was a figure I was not expecting last year. It arrived a couple of days before Christmas and made its way under my tree. I looooove this figure. Sunstreaker was ne of my favorite Transformers growing up and it nice to have him in Masterpiece form.
Marvel Legends Ares
Ares was a figure I was long on the fence about getting because it cost so much on eBay. Luckily, Hasbro decided to release an updated version of him so more of us could get him into our collections. With his massive size and the amount of weapons he comes with, 19.99 was a bargain.
These are my favorite figures of 2017. I could have made it an even 10 but that wouldn’t be sincere. I chose these figures because I really enjoy having them in my collection. What are your favorite figures of last year?
