Sideshow revealed a surprising new addition to their line up at Lucasfilm’s STAR WARS COLLECTIBLES panel at Comic-Con this morning! The panel, hosted by Lucasfilm’s Brian Merten and Dolly Ahluwalia, showcased the very latest news and revelations from the world of Star Wars merchandise – and gave us our first look at an all-new Obi Wan Kenobi!
A long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away) Sideshow produced a super-limited edition and highly collectible statue of Ben Kenobi as part of their celebrated “Mythos” series. This fan favorite polystone statue depicted Ben Kenobi as a solitary nomad, wandering the desert wastelands of Tatooine.
Now, Sideshow have announced an exciting return to that much-loved Mythos series, but in poseable 1:6 scale! The new Ben Kenobi figure stands roughly 12″ tall, and features an all-new portrait of the charismatic Jedi as envisioned prior to the events of Star Wars: A New Hope.
Kenobi is wearing his signature tunic, robe, and Jedi belt, all of which are beautifully tailored down to the last intricate detail. He also carries a sturdy pack, laden with equipment and mementos from his eventful life as a Jedi Knight. His bedroll and survival gear are carried alongside his Clone Wars era armor, and multiple weapons and tools to help him survive the harsh desert planet and it’s many hostile inhabitants.
Simply overflowing with nods to iconic moments from Star Wars lore, this is a figure made by fans, for fans. From his multiple lightsabers (!) to the battered and worn Clone Trooper armor slung onto his pack, this new interpretation of Ben Kenobi simply has to be seen to be believed.
The Sixth Scale Mythos Ben Kenobi figure will be on display at Sideshow’s booth (#1929) from Friday-Sunday at San Diego Comic-Con.
