In a year without a San Diego Comic-Con, Hasbro has been giving us regular reveals of upcoming products to get excited for. This seems to be the year of the X-men though, because everything that was revealed by Hasbro today was X-men centric.
This is one of three movie related X-men products. I’m not too excited about them, but they do look really good. This particular set is based on Logan and the Professor from the movie, Logan.
This next couple of releases are based on the Deadpool 2 movie. Not really interested in the box set, but I do want the Domino figure. Domino is one of my favorite X-men characters, no matter the iteration. Definite must buy.
That’s it for the movie related reveals. Now let’s look at the good stuff.
During Toy Fair, Hasbro revealed that a first appearance Storm was on the way. No one knew if it was coming in a retro wave or a regular wave. Well, it is going to be a retailer exclusive. Specifically Target. I am increasingly getting irritated by these retailer exclusives. They get scooped up so fast online and you would be hard pressed to find any on the shelves past the initial release.
Amazon is a little better when it comes to exclusive items being available, so I’m not too annoyed that this Nimrod set is exclusive to them. The price however is irksome. If Nimrod was released as a deluxe figure, it would be 29.99. With this set retailing for 79.99, that breaks down to 20 each for Fantomex and Psylocke, and 40 for Nimrod. Still getting it though.
The last set, which would have been the ComicCon exclusive, is based on the Hellfire Club. To my knowledge, this is the first time Sebastian Shaw and Donald Pierce have been released by Hasbro, so that’s cool. Jean Grey as the Black Queen with alternate Selene head is great too. The really exciting figure is the Classic White Queen figure. Hasbro is giving us some really cool and slightly obscure figures. But don’t most SDCC exclusive sets have five figures? He’s a more rotund character, but they already have the Doctor Octopus body mold. A few alterations and you’ve got yourself a Harry Leland.
Hasbro also revealed a two-pack with the two lead characters from Marvel’s Old Man Universe. This set also features the new pinless technology. And baby Hulk.
These are all up for preorder now on various sites including Entertainment Earth.
