The current format of Black Series packaging has been around for some time now. I have enjoyed the current black and red scheme, but in order to keep a line fresh and standing out on the pegs, you have to keep evolving. With that being said, Hasbro is debuting new packaging for their Black Series line.
The new packaging looks to do away with the numbering on the packaging in favor of a more detailed image of the character in the packaging. It still keeps the Star Wars Black Series logo at the top so it won’t look to out of place with figures already in your collection, assuming you keep them in box.
Most of the Rebels figures Hasbro has revealed today are rereleased with the exception of Zeb. Zeb! We are finally on the cusp of completing the entire crew in matching packaging.
Like the other figures Rebels, Zeb features a design that, while inspired by the show, still fits in the overall design aesthetic of the line.
The other Rebels figures are the same, but with the updated packaging. It doesn’t seem like it has been that long since I picked up Ezra, Kanaan, Sabine And Chopper, but I think I may repurchase them all. Especially since I never got Hera.
Like their Marvel Legends line, the new packaging will feature specific colorways depending on the release. Rebels is purple, the various movies will have colors to differentiate and the TV series will have a different color as well.
I love this new packaging. It’s clean and really separates each iteration of the Star Wars mythos into nice display pieces. These are all up for preorder now on Entertainment Earth and other sites. They will be released this fall, with the same 19.99 price point. Zeb seems to be a deluxe release, as he is going for 29.99.
