My first exposure to the time displaced X-man known as Bishop came from the 90’s X-men cartoon. Bishop traveled back to stop the assassination of Senator Kelly in an attempt to change history and change his timeline. It was very different from his first appearance in Uncanny X-Men #282. In that issue, Bishop and his two fellow XSE officers, Malcom and Randall, in pursuit of the criminal Trevor Fitzroy.
Though the first appearance was different, the look of the character was the same and this new figure based on him is faithful to the original appearance as well.
I never had the Toybiz version so I have nothing to compare this one against, but it looks pretty dang good. The head impresses me and makes me laugh at the same time. I’m impressed they were able to replicate his jeri curl mullet and amused that they did.
The only accessory Bishop comes with is a shotgun. He’s sort of like Cable in that he uses a weapon more often than his mutant powers, but it would have been nice to get some alternate powered hands. I may use the effects from the Walmart exclusive Black Panther to simulate his powers later.
The gun holster on his back holds the gun well, but I am leery of removing and putting in back in because it is a separate piece attached to the harness and it seems like it could come of without much pressure.
Bishop was one of the figures from this wave I was most looking forward to and it did not disappoint. This wave is currently showing up at retail and online. Head to Entertainment Earth now to get yours.
