One of the perks of buying at Toys R Us were the retailer exclusives. Sometimes it was Transformers like the recent Transformers: The Last Night Planet Cybertron(a repainted Primus), the X-Men Brotherhood Minimates set(that never showed up at my local TRU) and the Marvel Legends Hydra Two-pack(never saw that at any of the three stores in my area).

These items are manufactured with the intent of being sold only by TRU. But now that they are closing, none of the companies are shipping new product to them. The last store exclusive everyone was clamoring for, the Vision & Scarlet Witch set, briefly showed up on shelves and quickly sold out.

It is highly unlikely that Hasbro only made enough for one shipment, so who gets to sell the remaining stock. Entertainment Earth. They have received exclusive Hasbro product before so the relationship is already established. You can preorder it now on Entertainment Earth here.

Luckily they are not the only company changing up the recipient of store exclusives. Diamond Select Toys’ TRU exclusive sets will now be available at comic shops exclusively. Call or stop by your local shop to make sure they order some.

So, as connoisseurs of fine plastic we have options on how to obtain the products. Hopefully we will have another chain pop up to take the place of TRU. Shopping at Target and Wal-Mart is not my idea of a great experience when it comes to buying collectibles.
