I just happened to see a listing on Big Bad Toy Store about a new giant robot coming this winter, the Takara Tomy Diaclone Reboot DA-14 Big Powered GV.

Diaclone is the line that eventually became what we now know as Transformers. The original idea was transforming robots with mini figures that could ride on or in them.

I was not aware of this new reboot line but it is something to keep an eye on. When I first saw images, I thought it was a special reuse of the Metroplex mold. This was wrong. While it shares a similar height, the way it combines and changes gives it kind of a third party feel.

The ankle and thigh joints look to be articulated quite nicely allowing you to get it more dynamic poses than you can with Fort Max or Metroplex. Though not to dynamic, it is a pretty big dude.

The robot mode is a combination of multiple separate vehicles. You can have 4 separate vehicles…or two deluxe vehicles.

When all 4 are combined you have three options for display or play; battle station, vehicle and robot mode.

This figure also comes with 3 mini Diaclone figures to pilot the various vehicles.
